This made me crack the FUCK up, I won't lie. ;) And yes, tampering with road signs is a very serious thing, but how can you not get the giggles when you're driving down the road and see this:

Yeah. Seriously. And then, to cap it off, when the highway patrol tried to log in to the system to change it back to whatever it was supposed to say, they found they couldn't because the hackers had reset all the passwords! Officials had to go to the manufacturer to gain access, by which time I'm betting a ton of traffic jams had been caused by people slowing down to take pics. Hehehe.

Elsewhere on the web, there was an interesting article in the New York Times about the politics of defriending on Facebook (which they refer to as "unfriending," but I personally have always preferred the former term). Apparently Burger King offered a promotion where if a person removed ten of their Facebook friends, they'd get a free sandwich, after which point BK would send the spurned friends a message saying something to the effect of, "LULZ, YOU'VE JUST BEEN DUMPED FOR A SANDWICH!!!" They had to eventually end the promotion because it turned out to be a violation of Facebook's terms of service, though. I don't frequent Facebook, as most of you probably know, but I don't think I'd go around removing people just to get a free burger. No worries, guys, y'all are safe. ;)

I will in all probability be posting fic tomorrow, but in the meantime I wanted to point my SW- and A/O-inclined friends to this lovely little Anakin/Obi-Wan vignette by [info]emavalexis. Beautiful writing, great characterization, and it is HAWT. Mmmmmm. And for the BSG crowd, there's a delightful Adama/Roslin crack!fic by the name of "Stranger Than Fiction" which I had a good giggle over earlier today. It's written by [info]mondavis and proceeds on the premise that everyone on Galactica starts shipping A/R when prompted by a fic written by an anonymous author, and eventually even Bill and Laura read it and end up shipping themselves! *grins* Well worth a look-see, if you haven't run across it already. And if you have, hey, read it again!

Aaaand I think that's about it. G'night, f-list!

My [info]jedi_mistletoe fics, circa 2007 and 2008
Author names have been revealed for this year at [info]jedi_mistletoe, so I've taken the liberty of posting the fic I wrote for that exchange to my writing community. I also realized that I'd neglected to repost my 2007 story, so that's up there as well. :)

As I say in the Author's Notes, I was amazed by how much I still like "The Jedi's Code," even after a full year - and believe me, that is a rare, rare thing. I can barely even stand to acknowledge the existence of most of my old stuff, and even in To Ignite the Stars and The Sound of One Hand Clapping (which I consider to be my two best works since I started writing fanfiction again), I can see numerous weak spots and areas where the writing and plot are muddy as hell. I'm my own worst critic, honestly, and sometimes I wish my inner editor would take a long walk off a short pier. Heh. ;)

Anyhow, links and other errata under the cuts.

Also, a quick fic rec for Katie in particular, although this would really appeal to anyone who ships Adama/Roslin. I've been eagerly following the Secret Santa postings over at [info]adama_roslin and all of them are awesome, but one in particular stands out: A Bridge to the Stars, by [info]katamaran78. This fic has it all - romance, a believable foray into AUness, spot-on characterizations, smut, top-notch writing and a happy ending (and is not totally free of angst, either!). Katie, you MUST read this if you haven't already, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has even a passing interest in A/R. Go. Read. Love. Tell the author!

Also also, the fics I promised yesterday are coming, so don't worry about that - I just need to do a little more editing, and then they'll be posted. :)

Humourous Liz moment of the day: I had to type "New Caprica" for some reason, and as I was editing what I'd written I realized I had actually typed "New Craprica." Mentioned it to Katie and she basically e-nodded and said, "Yeah, that's about the size of it." XD! I love my subconscious mind sometimes.

... Yeah, that won't make any sense to anyone who isn't a BSG fan, but it made me giggle. Hehe.

Anyway, the main point of this post is to inform my f-list at large that effective immediately, several of my fics and fic claims will be relocated to [info]jedionpaper, the writing community I recently created. Specifically, the fics and claims that will be relocated are:

- To Ignite the Stars
- Desert Rose
- Padmé Amidala @ [info]fanfic100
- Anakin/Padmé @ [info]fanfic100
- Laura Roslin @ [info]fanfic100
- Kara Thrace @ [info]fanfic50

This is not really what I would have preferred to do, but when I originally created this journal I intended it solely for my writing and discussed most aspects of fandom in what's now my personal journal, [info]senatorsfan. Gradually this seems to have evolved so that most fandom business is talked about here in addition to me posting my writing. I definitely don't mind discussing mainly fandom here - after all, I've got lots more fandom people friended on here - but it does mean that this journal ends up being a hell of a lot more cluttered. And if you know me well, you'll also know that my anal-retentive self can't stand for this.

So, I created [info]jedionpaper, and that's where I'll store the projects I listed above. All other stuff (i.e., my other claims) will remain on this journal for now. The stuff I'm relocating just happens to be the fics and claims I work on most often.

I feel sort of bad about making you guys add yet another community to your f-list, so you can feel free to yell at me in the comments if you like. XD Still, all of the material that will be posted to that community would eventually have wound up on your f-list anyhow, so I hope it's a somewhat-fair deal. And if not ... yeah, there's always the yelling. Hee.

Last but not least, are you looking for something to read tonight? I heartily recommend this fic by my very good friend [info]luminations. It's Anakin-centric, PG-13 and ... well, kinda creepy, to be honest. I got the shivers while reading it. But not in a bad way - more the kind of shivers you'd get after listening to a really good ghost story. It's quite a good psychological study, anyway, and I encourage you to hop over and check it out. ^_^

If you like Star Wars and you've read The Golden Compass, by Philip Pullman, then I HIGHLY encourage you to read this fic. It's written around the scene where Padmé goes to confront Anakin on Mustafar, but done in a SW/GC crossover style (the characters have daemons, each with their own names and personalities). I found it very well-written and quite clever too. Crossovers can be difficult to do, but the author pulls this one off with grace, tact and believability. Go check it out!

Quick note on my own ficcing endeavours: body willing (I've been struggling with some monthly-visitor-type issues of late), I'll update [info]padme_writes and put in some good solid work on TIS today. I really want to get the next chapter up! :)
