First off, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to one [info]emavalexis! My apologies for not getting your present up yesterday - I had a social engagement in the evening and it wasn't until I got home around midnight and was blearily going through my f-list that I remembered. So it's entirely my fault, and I hope you will accept my gift of not one but two ficlets. The first is Padmé-centric, and is sort of along the lines of something we had discussed earlier - about how there's really a lack of information about Padmé's formative years, other than her early forays into politics. I took that concept a bit further and wrote a little speculative piece about how she might have gotten along with her peers as a child. The second is Anakin/Padmé, and will be posted momentarily. Hope you enjoy!

Title: Outsider
Fandom/Pairing: Star Wars, Padmé-centric
Written For: [info]fanfic100, and my dear friend [info]emavalexis's birthday
Prompt: #001 Beginnings
Characters: Padmé
Word Count: 513 words
Rating: G
Summary: Padmé was always an outsider, even from the very beginning.
Author's Notes: See my little introduction, above. XD I decided to apply this to my [info]fanfic100 claim, as well.

Title: The Beginning of Friends
Fandom/Pairing: Star Wars, Anakin/Padmé
Written For: [info]fanfic100
Characters: Anakin, Padmé
Prompt: #021 Friends
Word Count: 670
Rating: G
Summary: While awake one night on the Naboo cruiser, Padmé makes a new friend.
Author's Notes: A re-imagining of a canon scene, which is one of my favourite things about writing fanfiction. This is my take on the scene between Anakin and Padmé in Episode I where he gives her the japor snippet. It's a little shorter than I expected, but I think that's okay. I was in a very weird headspace when I wrote this, so the style probably reflects that. But I'm pleased with it nonetheless.

Title: Birth of Friends
Fandom/Pairing: Star Wars/Obidala (Obi-Wan Kenobi/Padmé Amidala)
Written For: 12 Days of Obidala Christmas @ the Obidala Fan Forum
Prompt: Christmas Fic/#015 Pause
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padmé
Word Count: 1,551
Rating: G
Summary: After the battle to liberate Naboo, Padmé makes a new friend.
Author’s Notes: For the second day of Obidala Christmas, I’d like to offer up a couple of deleted scenes from my multichapter fic, To Ignite the Stars. This first one isn’t a deleted scene, per se, in that it takes place before the time period in which the fic begins, but I hope you’ll still enjoy a look back at one of the events that brought Obi-Wan and Padmé together in this particular AU. You know you’re into a fic you’ve created when … you start writing deleted scenes for it. XD This is the second in my series of fics for the Twelve Days of Obidala Christmas at the Forum. As I did with the first one, I've also made this a part of my [info]fanfic50 claim.

Title: Cookies at Christmas
Fandom/Pairing: Star Wars/Obidala (Obi-Wan Kenobi/Padmé Amidala)
Written For: 12 Days of Obidala Christmas @ the Obidala Fan Forum
Prompt: Christmas Fic/#037 Present
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padmé, Jobal, Dormé
Word Count: 1,988
Rating: G
Summary: Padmé gets together with her family to make Christmas cookies, while Obi-Wan assumes a rather untraditional role for a Jedi.
Author’s Notes: Right, so obviously there isn’t any mention in the Star Wars trilogy of Christmas, but I thought it would be fun to start off the Twelve Days of Obidala Christmas at the Forum with a nice holiday-oriented fic. (You'll be bombarded with such fics - and icons - over the next few days due to my participation in the 12 Days event.) So perhaps a little suspension of disbelief is in order. This is based on my aunt and cousin's annual tradition of getting together a week before Christmas to bake Christmas cookies. I went over and helped them with that today, and got some good inspiration! XD And of course, I wanted to find a way to link it to one of my fanfic claims, so I picked an appropriate prompt from my [info]fanfic50 table with which to link it. This is fluff at its absolute fluffiest, and should be taken as such.

Title: To Serve and Protect
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padmé, Anakin
Word Count: 3,267
Rating: G
Summary: Obi-Wan follows the clues left by Padmé's assassin.
Author's Notes: After a few chapters of just Padmé, it's now time to check in on our favourite Jedi Knight and see what he's been up to. As you may have guessed, this chapter is mainly Obi-Wan's activities as he follows Jango Fett's trail to Geonosis and witnesses the creation of the Separatist Council. There's plenty of Obidala to be had, though! Again, I tossed a lot of stuff in here that wouldn't fit anywhere else. And this time, I promise not to be so bloody late with Chapter 9. This update was mostly delayed by the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, even though I started writing a few days before it came out. Needless to say, that won't happen again. Even though I'm going on vacation next week I hope to have at least one more chapter, if not two, up for you guys before next Tuesday when I leave. And hey, I might even churn a few out while I'm in Toronto, you never know! I'll be bringing my laptop with me, so it's always a possibility. My sincere thanks to my best friend Katie, aka [info]xkatie_kittenx, who helped me tremendously with the diary entry for this chapter. She roleplays the best Obi-Wan Kenobi I've had the privilege to game with, and so she was a natural at advising me on the writing of the entry. Thanks hun! *hugs*

Title: Family Matters
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Padmé, Anakin, Sola, Jobal, Ruwee
Word Count: 3,812
Rating: G
Summary: Padmé and Anakin visit with Padmé's family, and Padmé is counseled by Sola.
Author's Notes: I've discovered something about myself as a writer, and that something is that I seem to write one hell of a lot better and faster if I put music on while I'm writing. Don't ask me why. Usually when I'm doing stuff that requires me to concentrate -- for instance, writing a paper or an article for school -- listening to music disturbs me, and because of that I've tended to avoid it while I write. But apparently I shouldn't, because I whipped off the rest of Chapter 6 on the strength of the Obidala playlist in about an hour. Ah well, live and learn I suppose. Insofar as this chapter goes, it's another good one even though I ran into a major case of writer's block in the middle of it. That's why you're getting it so late. But today I said to my To Ignite the Stars muse, "Okay buster, you're going to finish Chapter 6 or die trying!" and luckily it chose to finish Chapter 6 rather than kick the bucket completely. The conversation between Sola and Padmé ranks second only to After Geonosis as one of those scenes that I've been writing and rewriting in my head ever since this plotbunny hopped into my brain. In total it's probably gone through about twenty revisions, but only because I wanted to get it absolutely, completely right. Now I think it's time to lay down the pen and let you guys get your hands on this chapter. Off to start Chapter 7!

Ooh, but before I go I wanted to share with all of you this beautiful banner that Lynda, aka [info]lealynnkenobi, made for me last night in honour of To Ignite the Stars. I actually wrote four pages of this chapter last night after seeing it. XD I now use it in my signature on the Forum and figured I'd give yet another shout-out/thanks to dear Ladybug for whipping it up for me. You are awesome, hun!

Title: A Wish
Fandom: Star Wars
Written For: [info]50scenes
Prompt: #028 Gasp
Characters: Padmé, Luke, Leia
Word Count: 612
Rating: G
Summary: Some late-night contemplation helps to soothe Padmé back to sleep.
Author’s Notes: I ran into some writer’s block on Chapter 6 of To Ignite the Stars, so I figured a little work on my [info]50scenes claim might just unstick me. That’s what this claim is partially for – to get me going again when I run into trouble writing my other stuff. It remains to be seen whether or not it’s worked, but this short scene and the next were what I churned out while waiting for my other muse to come back. One more thing. I’m not saying who the man is that Padmé’s thinking of. You’ll just have to read this scene to find out whether it’s Anakin or Obi-Wan. *uses an ambiguous icon to further confuse things*

Title: A Web of Secrets
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Padmé, Anakin, Obi-Wan
Word Count: 3,420
Rating: G
Summary: Padmé and Anakin are transported to Naboo, where Padmé speaks with Queen Jamillia.
Author's Notes: First off, my apologies for not posting this sooner, I know a lot of you were eagerly anticipating the next chapter. I had intended to write and post Chapter 5 last week, but due to various real life circumstances (my aunt visiting, me putting in a lot of overtime at work, and a couple of personal issues that had to be dealt with) I unfortunately wasn't able to get it up until now. I'll try my utmost to be more prompt with Chapter 6, which I've already started working on. This one isn't as spicy as the last chapter, it's mostly Padmé and her thoughts with a bit of immature!Anakin sprinkled in for good - or is it bad? - measure. I'm already itching to write the scene that takes place right after Geonosis, but I guess my muse and I will just have to be patient. ^_^

Title: Watching the Flames
Fandom: Star Wars
Written For: [info]50scenes
Prompt: #019 Without
Characters: Padmé, Anakin
Word Count: 516
Rating: G
Summary: Padmé sees the Jedi Temple burn while worrying for her husband.
Author’s Notes: This is the first Ani/Padmé I’ve done in quite some time, so forgive me if I’m a tad rusty at it! ^_^ Writing as Padmé, even in third person, is my purest form of enjoyment so you can imagine I managed to have a hell of a lot of fun with this fic despite the fact that it is Anidala. *throws a bone to the Ani/Padmé shippers on her f-list* This is introspection by Padmé as she stands at her window and watches the Jedi Temple fire in Episode III. My first fic for [info]50scenes was churned out in about a half an hour, but I didn't get to post it until now because I was busy uploading userpics. Yep, I've gone to the Dark Side and got a Permanent Account for this journal. (Tip: if you ever need a way to bribe me, just toss extra userpics my way and watch me follow.) The bright side is I'll never have to pay for it again, and my dear friend Wendy got a Paid Account for her writing journal out of the time I had remaining. So, winners on all sides!

Word Count: 1,359
Rating: G
Summary: Obi-Wan and Anakin prepare to reunite with an old friend.
Author’s Notes: And here it is, the first chapter of the fic that's been eating away at my brain for the past three weeks. This chapter, together with Chapter 2, took me a week to write because I went really perfectionist on it. My process went write write delete delete delete write delete delete write write obsess delete delete delete, or something similar. Oh, and the fact that my hockey team was in the Stanley Cup Final really didn't help matters. *cough* Anyway, here we go.

Title: Mindful of the Present
Fandom: Star Wars
Written For: [info]fanfic50
Prompt: #029 Wake
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padmé
Word Count: 940
Rating: G
Summary: Obi-Wan awakes to his pregnant wife, and ruminates on life, the Force, and his impending fatherhood.
Author’s Notes: I seem to be writing a lot of Obidala lately. Very AU, and based on the timelines and plots in my personal roleplaying journal, [info]naboosenator. Cute, but I sort of got lost halfway through the fic and had to muddle my way back to what I was trying to say. And I cannot believe I forgot that quote of Qui-Gon’s I used near the end. I had to go hunting through old RPing transcripts for it. *facepalm* Just of note, I'm not sure how much fic I'll be writing in the next couple days -- I'm kind of occupied with studying and finishing off my last few assignments. I may post if I get struck by inspiration.

Fandom: Star Wars

Prompt: #020 Write
Characters: Obi-Wan. Padmé is mentioned.
Word Count: 1,018
Rating: G, PG-13 towards the end if you read it a certain way *cough*
Summary: Obi-Wan writes a love letter.
Author’s Notes: Well, with a prompt like Write, what else could I do? ;) The title comes from a poem I had to read in grade 9 entitled Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird. I thought it was fitting for this kind of a fic. Obi-Wan does indeed find eleven ways to write the letter. Count ’em up!

Title: Chocolate Frog!
Fandom: Harry Potter
Written For: Steph, aka [info]lilacmermaid
Prompt: McGonagall/Dumbledore pairing
Characters: Minerva McGonagall, Albus Dumbledore
Word Count: 572
Rating: G
Summary: McGonagall comforts Dumbledore when all seems lost.
Author’s Notes: Yeah … still not exactly sure where this came from. I had intended to write it quite seriously, and was sort of sticking to that principle, and as a result wasn’t getting anything out of myself I could actually use. I had a starting paragraph (what we journalism geeks call a “lead”) but not a whole lot else. Then something happened – I decided to let myself go, let the fic take me whither it would. And this is the result. I’m far happier with it than I probably would’ve been with a so-called “serious” fic. I love it when I can just totally dissect my writing process like this. *grins*

Fandom: Star Wars
Written For: [info]swficchallenge
Prompt: “The duty of youth is to challenge corruption.” – Kurt Cobain
Characters: Anakin, Padmé. Obi-Wan and Palpatine are mentioned.
Word Count: 1,210
Rating: G
Summary: Who has been interfering in Anakin’s life? He is about to find out.
Author’s Notes: This turned out completely different from what I expected. I had originally intended it to be a very introspective piece, with no dialogue, from Anakin’s point of view. Instead it turned into a very anti-Palpatine fic. I don’t mind too much; it’s always interesting when pieces veer off into left field.

Word Count: 386
Rating: G, PG-13 towards the end for a mention of sex.
Summary: Anakin “sees” his unborn child for the first time.
Author’s Notes: I don’t like this one as much as some of the other stuff I’ve written, feeling that it’s a bit heavy on clichés and light on substance. But I’m posting it anyway because really it isn’t that bad. Also, I found it cute that I was able to incorporate both Anakin/Padmé and Luke/Leia -- which I didn't even notice I'd done until the end.
