FINALLY finished the Kobol arc, phew. It took for-frakking-ever, and I had to split it into three chapters because altogether it was almost 7,000 words long, eek! I like to keep the IU chapters around 2,000-3,000 words or so - any more and it's kind of overwhelming. Anyway, looking forward as ever to continuing with this! I've figured out that if I keep writing and posting at my current pace (please, please, please, fic gods!), I may well be able to finish Insanity Underrated entirely by February 2010. We shall see!

This is something I've seen basically all around my f-list, but I'm giving credit to trialia and taragel because they posted the coolest versions of it, the versions that I'm now going to proceed to steal. :D First, I'm going to list every single thing I wrote in 2008 - shortfics, TIS chapters, ficlets, claim fics, fest fics, whatever. These will be divided by month and subdivided by fandom, and at the bottom of each month will be two numbers - a total word count for the month and a total fic count for the month. After the December fic and word totals I've put a fic total for the year and a word total for the year, and after that will be a series of questions ganked from taragel about what fic I'm most proud of, my best fic, my most underappreciated fic, etc. etc.

Also, note that some fics will not show with the correct date stamp since they were re-posted to my writing community after their original posting date on this journal. This is because I prefer to link to jedionpaper wherever possible - as I no longer put up fic here - but if you're really picky about making sure I've matched fics to their correct month, you can look back through amidala_thrace's archive. The original posts are all still there. ;)

Apropos of nothing, I discovered to my annoyance that apparently you can't backdate journal posts in a non-personal journal (i.e. a community). Who knew? >.> This must be a recent development, however, because several communities I belong to have entries that say they were posted in the 1970s and 1980s, which is obviously impossible without backdating since it's waaaaay before LJ even existed. Anyway, my sincere apologies if you guys got spammed with a couple of fic reposts tonight. I tried to backdate them, only to be told that there was an error because users aren't allowed to backdate in communities. :( (And as I subsequently added to those posts, Deborah, you don't need to link the fics in jedi_news, because they are reposts.)

It was supposed to be posted maybe a week after "Revelations" aired, but various real life circumstances conspired to ensure that would not be the case. Basically, my aim with this fic was first to write a straightforward Kara and Sam getting back together and frakking each other's brains out PWP, but it somehow devolved into exploring how Kara might have reacted, off-screen, to the news that her husband is a Cylon. With some of that P (as in Porn) thrown in for good measure. Think of it as a sort of "missing scene" starting when Sam meets up with her in the memorial hall. I'm not entirely pleased with this fic, and I don't think it represents my best work, but at some point you have to stop fiddling around and rearranging words and switching paragraphs around. Applied to my fanfic50 claim because I'm lazy like that.

XD I say that only because there's another Lee/Kara fic I've been struggling with for a couple of weeks now, and this was so easy to write in comparison it's almost scary. I knew as soon as I saw sasa_hq's list of prompts that I'd be writing on one or more of them, and this fic manages to fulfill that admirably. It's much stronger in Prompt #10 than #2, but I figured what the heck, it fit. Oh, and ignore the blatantly clichéd concept - as that's sort of the point for this ficathon. NO SPOILERS in this fic, though I envision it taking place sometime around late Season 1. Lee and Kara are in a sort of friends-with-benefits situation.
