FINALLY finished the Kobol arc, phew. It took for-frakking-ever, and I had to split it into three chapters because altogether it was almost 7,000 words long, eek! I like to keep the IU chapters around 2,000-3,000 words or so - any more and it's kind of overwhelming. Anyway, looking forward as ever to continuing with this! I've figured out that if I keep writing and posting at my current pace (please, please, please, fic gods!), I may well be able to finish Insanity Underrated entirely by February 2010. We shall see!

I rarely, if ever, do this, but I think in the end it helped me to write it, and it has a very real purpose in the fic itself. You guys can judge for yourself, I guess. I don't believe I could do any more revision on it short of cutting it from the fic entirely, and that's not really an option at this point. On the non-angsty side of things, I get really excited whenever I can write minor characters and bring a bit of depth to them, and that's what I've endeavoured to do with Bail and Breha. The comlink procedure, by the way, is taken from a passage in Karen Miller's novel Wild Space, and I felt comfortable enough with its canonicity that I decided to include it here. :) (And yeah, I know, evil summary. Author's Notes: I'll try not to let three months pass between updates again, heh. *facepalm* To be fair, Darth Real Life had me in his clutches several times, which is partly why I didn't work on this fic much in the months of July and August. The other reason is that my beta and I have had to do a lot of detailed outlining on the next few chapters, because there isn't really a "framework" for this time period as far as canon goes and in To Ignite the Stars, what happens after Revenge of the Sith will shape several other events and changes in the Original Trilogy. So, we've been busy. ;) This particular chapter is more introspection on the part of Padmé and Obi-Wan as they struggle to adjust to new routines and expectations. Lots of fun to write, because this is a side of them we haven't really gotten to see. :)

I watched an excellent movie last night about the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder on soldiers returning from the war in Iraq, so I expect that will probably inform a lot of future TIS chapters.
