Okay. Time for Liz to get her arse moving on a couple of things.

First off, the little matter of the bombshell LucasFilm dropped last week concerning the animated Clone Wars series. Specifically, that Anakin now apparently has a Padawan, or is going to get one. Her name is Ahsoka Tano. Several people on my f-list have expressed their astonishment that I haven't yet weighed in on this matter, which is more a matter of laziness on my part than anything else. I don't have much going on tonight, though (not really watching the SuperBowl, even if it's on in the background), so I figure I'll post my thoughts about it.

Cut because I got unexpectedly ranty )

Er, yeah, I didn't intend that to turn into such a rant. XD But it did. My apologies to anyone I've offended who actually likes the EU. More power to you, as far as I'm concerned. I just ... have issues with it, but that doesn't mean you have to agree with me.

The second thing I need to get moving on is writing. The Star Wars muses have been disturbingly silent this week, drowned out by the chattering of the BSG ones and, more specifically, my Kara!muse. I think I've got a plan in place for dealing with that, though, so hopefully it'll shut up enough for me to work on TIS and some of my languishing fanfiction claims.

Tomorrow I'll be posting my [info]fanfic100 prompt table for Padmé, whom I was recently awarded at that community. I'm hoping to get back on my two-shortfics-per-week schedule, not to mention have a TIS update up a little more often than I currently do. Maybe I need to sit down and make up a writing schedule, I don't know. We'll see.

Dear Icon Maker,

Pimping your icon post to a Star Wars icon community and then friends-locking that icon post - and telling people to join your community if they want to see the icons - is probably not the smartest idea you've had this year. I was pretty pissed-off when I clicked on the link only to have LJ present me with a "You are not authorized to view this protected entry" page. So I hit the Back button, but DAMN, I wanted some of those icons.

So you know what I did?

I joined your community, snagged the icons I wanted, and then punched the "Leave community" button.

All in all, I was probably a member of the community for about fifteen seconds. And I couldn't help wondering how many of the 20 members had only joined to do what I did, take the icons and then leave. I also wondered how many people wouldn't even go to the trouble of joining, would just click, see that the post was friends-locked and then scroll right on by.

Look, I understand you're probably leery of people stealing your icons. But there is absolutely nothing to prevent a potential icon stealer from doing precisely what I just did. Unless you start requiring moderated membership - in which case most thieves will probably stop bothering - you're just going to turn away and/or frustrate a lot of people who would otherwise gladly use your graphics.

Needless to say, I've just added another "don't" to my list of things NOT to do if I ever start my own graphics community.

No love,
A PMS-y Liz

In other news, I snagged Season 2.0 of BSG this weekend from Future Shop! I wasn't even planning on going in there, but I had to get groceries anyway, so I figured hey, why not. They didn't have it on the shelf for some reason - I had to ask a clerk to dig up a copy - but I now own Seasons 1 and 2 in their entirety. I'm also working my way through Season 3 on the Space channel every Sunday night, and am feeling a lot more comfortable overall with canon. I'll probably be able to start writing serious stuff for it soon.

I've spent the past three or so days working on a mood theme for my hockey journal, so haven't had a whole lot of time to focus on my fics. I'm hoping to get some good work on them done tonight, along with an ever-growing pile of beta reading. I've got a new idea for the plot of TIS rattling around in my brain, which I will also hopefully discuss with Katie tonight. And there's my app for Kara waiting in the wings. Thankfully it's almost finished.

Last but not least, I need to make a writing schedule. Or attempt to, anyway. I'm not sure how well I'll follow it, but oh well. Can't hurt to try.
