Also, note that some fics will not show with the correct date stamp since they were re-posted to my writing community after their original posting date on this journal. This is because I prefer to link to jedionpaper wherever possible - as I no longer put up fic here - but if you're really picky about making sure I've matched fics to their correct month, you can look back through amidala_thrace's archive. The original posts are all still there. ;)

Um ... wow. It really brings home how productive I've been over the last year when I total everything up like that.
And now for the meme-ish part, with thanks to callmeonetrack.
My favourite story this year (of my own): I really like Threaten to Reconcile, the Kara/Sam mid-Revelations fic, for all the emotional complexities raging through it. Same goes for Second Chances, which was utterly heart-rending to write but, I think, necessary so that I could properly explore Lee's frame of mind after Kara's return. My favourite TIS chapters are The Bond and Avatar.
My best story this year: Absolutely, hands-down, no-contest, The Sound of One Hand Clapping. I still believe it ranks as one of the best things I've ever done, whether fandom or non-fandom, and the fact that I can say that without cringing seven months after it was written is an achievement in itself!
Story most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Like callmeonetrack I don't so much like the "underappreciated" label, simply because I get so many kind reviews on my work, some of which are probably not deserved. Heh. ;) That being said, although Threaten to Reconcile was received very well by the Kara/Sam shipper community, I would have liked others to give it a chance too. So often I think many people are scared off by fanfic featuring a pairing that they might not be into, but they might be missing out on a good fic if they choose to give it a pass based on the main coupling. Ah well, I guess we can't all be multishippers. ;)
Most fun story: The Bargain. DAMN did I amuse myself with that one, and the funny thing was, it came into being completely accidentally. I had about an hour to kill before Andrew and I were going to leave for a playoff game, saw that sasa_hq was having a ficathon, and dashed something off in record time. It ended up being not bad and very bantery, which is something I often have difficulty with.
Sexiest story: The Sound of One Hand Clapping certainly had its moments, including one scene that turned out to be a lot smuttier than I'd planned, but I nonetheless think I'll give this category to At Day's End. Wall!porn = YUMMEH. Honourable mention goes to Surprise.
Hardest story to write: They're all difficult to some extent, in different ways, but I struggled the most and the longest with Second Chances. Part of the problem with that one is the fact that my muse and I had diverging expectations on what it was going to be. I thought I was writing a quick-and-dirty PWP, while the muse wanted to get all thinky and explore Lee's emotional state. Of course, my muses usually get what they want, and once I stopped forcing the fic to go in a direction it didn't want, it began to cooperate with me.
Writing technique or style you've done well: Geez, I don't know. I tend to do mostly serious, plotty stuff, and that didn't change much this year. I've made some leaps and bounds when it comes to present-tense writing, I guess, but there will always be things to improve on.
Something you'd like to work on in future: Length. Oh, I do like to go on and on and on and on and on and ... well, I'm sure you get the picture. ;) With To Ignite the Stars that's to some degree unavoidable, because I have a set and specific outline and certain things that have to happen at certain times. But I want to get better at figuring out exactly what a fic is going to contain and what focus it will have from the start, which may eliminate some of the verbosity. Maybe I'll make sort of a mini-outline for each one. >.>
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? Less. Far, far less. That may seem strange given my overall word count - which shocked my socks off in its awesomeness, to be sure! - but I know in my heart that I could have gotten so much more done if it hadn't been for some curveballs that real life threw at me this summer. Summertime is traditionally a big writing time for me, mainly due to the fact that I don't have school and work is less busy, but this year I was kept occupied by one calamity after another (or so it seemed) and my production really suffered. Here's hoping that this year will be better.
Did you take any writing risks this year? The character study was a big one. I wasn't at all sure when I began The Sound of One Hand Clapping how it would be received, because it was intended to be a lot more serious than your typical fanfic and I'm sure it came across that way. However, I was very pleasantly surprised both by what I was able to achieve and by how people reacted to it. To this day it remains my most-reviewed piece.
Do you have any goals for the New Year? WRITE. WRITE, WRITE, WRITE. Finish To Ignite the Stars (which I will say until I actually do finish the damn thing). Do more PWP. Write more BSG. Finish some of my languishing fanfic claims. (Yep, I have a lot of goals.)
Apropos of nothing, I discovered to my annoyance that apparently you can't backdate journal posts in a non-personal journal (i.e. a community). Who knew? >.> This must be a recent development, however, because several communities I belong to have entries that say they were posted in the 1970s and 1980s, which is obviously impossible without backdating since it's waaaaay before LJ even existed. Anyway, my sincere apologies if you guys got spammed with a couple of fic reposts tonight. I tried to backdate them, only to be told that there was an error because users aren't allowed to backdate in communities. :( (And as I subsequently added to those posts, Deborah, you don't need to link the fics in jedi_news, because they are reposts.)
